Football Portal Additions, MBB Destroys Baylor

Willie Fritz and the Coogs keep cooking in the transfer portal. Houston landed Florida transfer and kicker Evan Noel on Monday, a significant acquisition. Noel was the No. 1 overall kicker in the 2025 recruiting class, and given how many times kicker Ethan Sanchez saved the Coogs with his leg last season, getting a kicker with the potential of Noel, who has at least three years of eligibility, is noteworthy.

Former Coog Corey Platt found a new home on Monday as well, signing with the defending Big 12 Champions, Texas Tech. Platt will have two years of eligibility remaining in Lubbock, and his 41 tackles, 3 sacks, 1 FF and 2 PD will be missed in Houston.

The Coogs also completely rebuilt their offensive line through the transfer portal. After losing over 3000 snaps from last year’s unit, Alvin Ebosele and McKenzie Agnello are the only two returning starters up front for Houston.

Anthony Boswell (Toledo), Drew Terrill (Miami, OH), Hayden Wright (Northwestern) and Shade Hurst (Tulane) have all made their way to Scott Street with a combined 2,487 snaps from the 2025 season.

In total, Houston has brought in 13 players from the transfer portal while having 15 exits. The Coogs’ portal class is currently ranked second in the Big 12 and seventh nationally with an adjusted NIL value of +$2.4M according to On3.

Houston came to Waco over the weekend and completely dismantled Baylor 77-55 at the Foster Pavilion. The Coogs had five different players score double figures, led by senior guard Emanuel Sharp with a team-high 17 points.

Freshman trio Chris Cenac (11 points), Isaiah Harwell (12 points) and Kingston Flemings (10 points) kept Baylor’s defense on skates the entire night, while junior forward Joseph Tugler secured his second consecutive double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Despite a sluggish first half that included missing a total of 20 shots, No. 7 Houston put together a 23-3 run between those droughts in just six minutes, stealing any hope Baylor had of gaining momentum.

Houston finished the night shooting 39.2% from the field and scored 31 points off 16 Baylor turnovers. The Coogs haven’t lost a true road game since last February at the Phog against then No. 8 Kansas.
