PFF Is a Big Fan of Oklahoma State’s Transfer Class

Pro Football Focus was a big fan of what Eric Morris did at North Texas last season, and in turn, that means the outlet is impressed with the Cowboys’ transfer haul.
PFF has been showcasing the Top 8 transfers from each position group over the past week. Of the 72 total players PFF noted, six will be playing in an Oklahoma State uniform next season. All of those players transferred to OSU by way of North Texas. The lists were done via each player’s PFF grade for the 2025 season.
OSU is tied with Texas Tech in terms of number of players who made those lists among Big 12 teams. Only OSU, Tech, Colorado (three) and Cincinnati (two) had multiple transfers featured. Meanwhile, seven Big 12 teams didn’t have any transfers listed.
More impressively, OSU had three incoming transfers atop their position group in Caleb Hawkins (running back), Wyatt Young (receiver) and Ethan Wesloski (linebacker). No other team regardless of conference affiliation had multiple No. 1s, and Colorado and Houston were the only other Big 12 teams with No. 1s. So, OSU had more top transfers than the rest of the Big 12 put together.
Quarterback: Drew Mestemaker was listed fourth among QB transfers with his season grade of 88.3. That trailed new Auburn QB Byrum Brown (91.5), new Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby (90.5) and new Nebraska QB Anthony Colandrea (90.1).
Although Mestemaker’s PFF grade was lower than that group, he finished the season with more passing yards and touchdowns than those other three while also having a higher completion percentage.
Among QBs with at least 287 dropbacks this season, Mestemaker’s 9.4 yards per attempt led the country (everybody, not just transfers). Diego Pavia and Fernando Mendoza were tied for second behind him.
Running Back: Hawkins was far and away the best running back listed in terms of PFF grade.
He finished the year with a 92.6 PFF grade. Cam Edwards (UConn to Michigan State) is second among transfers with an 86.4. That 6.2 difference between No. 1 and No. 2 would cover the rest of the list.
Hawkins’ rushing grade of 94.1 led the country (non-transfers included). Notre Dame’s Jeremiyah Love was second.
Hawkins led the nation in total touchdowns as a true freshman last season with 29 — five more than anyone else.
Wide Receiver: OSU had not one, but two receiver transfers crack PFF’s Top 8 in No. 1 Wyatt Young and No. 6 Miles Coleman.
Similar to Hawkins, Young nearly lapped the field. His season grade of 89 is 5.1 points ahead of second-place Jackson Harris (Hawaii to LSU). Meanwhile Harris is 6.1 ahead of eighth-place Landon Ellis (James Madison to UCLA).
Coleman came sixth at 81.1 — just 2.8 behind Harris in second.
Young finished third nationally with 1,264 receiving yards in 2025, his true sophomore year. Coleman was a classmate of Mestemaker at Vandergrift High School in Austin. As a true sophomore this past season, he caught 46 passes for 536 yards and three TDs.
Young’s 18.1 yards per reception in 2025 finished tied for fourth nationally.
Linebacker: Another spot where a Cowboy took the top spot, Ethan Wesloksi finished his redshirt junior season with a PFF grade of 90.6, the only transfer linebacker to hit the 90s. He was one of only three overall linebackers to play at least 479 snaps last season and finish with a 90 PFF grade.
He finished 2025 with 113 tackles, nine tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, an INT and a fumble recovery touchdown.
Cornerback: With the 81 new players the Cowboys have brought in this offseason, corner Kollin Lewis has somewhat slid under the radar, but not to PFF.
As a redshirt sophomore last season, Lewis turned in a PFF grade of 75.9, putting him seventh among transferring corners.
PFF saw him targeted 19 times in 2025, where he gave up just eight receptions — a reception percentage of 42.1%. Those eight catches went for 67 yards and one touchdown while Lewis picked off a pair of passes.
